How It Works
CheckPointLPR™ (License Plate Recognition) is an HD IP capable image-processing
application used to identify vehicles by their license plates. This exciting
technology has been chosen
by some of the best-in-class companies in the world
for use in various security, revenue protection, and traffic-based applications.
As vehicles pass through an LPR field of view, a camera captures the
license plate and transforms the image into an alpha-numeric character
string utilizing its optical character recognition
(OCR) algorithm. The
result is immediately compared to a user populated database, which determines
the appropriate action based on the subjects response category.
Our most recent release utilizes one High Definition Visual Spectrum camera
in concert with an Infra-Red Illuminator, which is needed to compensate for
diverse light conditions, plate configurations, etc…
Multiple images are recorded by these two cameras using a frame-grabber
which work in concert with the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) module
that extracts the plate information based upon the best image captured.
Finally, the result is processed with our powerful CheckPointLPR™
license plate alert software which generates the appropriate action for
that subject’s plate (i.e. vend gate, send alert, etc…). The most recent
advances in high-definition camera technology is expanding the spectrum
of image processing capabilities to a whole new level.
The two dome housings (on the yellow barrier gate and on the wall) showcase
a couple of examples of today’s small foot-print technology revolution.
Our 5 megapixel CMOS image sensor high-definition IP (yes – HD IP) cameras
fit under a 4” dome with room to spare. They can define the field of view
from the ceiling, wall or back of a barrier gate. The possibilities are
endless and the results are impressive.
Our crystal clear HD IP cameras have the same resolution to substitute
up to 15 analog cameras – reducing the total cost of installation. They
have the ability to zoom in after the event from high res archives,
simultaneously viewing zoomed and full field images. There is no need
for a separate power source since it can be drawn from a low cost
Power-over-Ethernet switch.
Last but not least, we do offer mobile LPR lane devices that can be used for
LPI or in the lane to process/recognize repeat visitors – be it monthlies
(contract parkers) or valet parking guests. In the real-time mode, these
units can fetch previous visit information from the server in less than 2
seconds, allowing the arriving guest to be greeted by name – a highly desired
customer service feature in the 4 and 5 star hotel/resort and
residential environments.
